I’m writing this review two months after my DIEP flap reconstruction surgery. Dr. Lisa Schneider was recommended to me after I was diagnosed with DCIS breast cancer. After my first visit, I knew she was the surgeon I could trust with my life. The level of professionalism and communication I received at Dr. Schneider’s office was exceptional. Every step of the process was explained clearly and in a way that was easy to understand - especially important as this was my first experience with something of this magnitude. My phone calls were answered after just one ring, and even when I called on the weekend, my call was returned immediately. Everything - from my hospital and test bookings to insurance clearance - was handled seamlessly, which made a huge difference during such a difficult time. Dr. Schneider is not only a brilliant surgeon but also a truly compassionate person. Her empathy during those hard days made me feel seen, special, and genuinely cared for. She understood me deeply and went above and beyond to ensure I achieved the best aesthetic result possible. My recovery was smooth and remarkably quick, considering the complexity of the surgery. I had follow-up appointments every other week, and I was able to video call anytime I had a concern or question. The team made me feel like I was their top priority. Most importantly, when I look at myself today, I can hardly believe I underwent an eight-hour surgery. I look and feel great. Everything is well-balanced and proportionate, and I have no pain. The tummy tuck that came with this procedure was a bonus - I truly look amazing. My journey started on Nov of 2019. I had a double mastectomy and then DIEP. The road has been long, stressful, and depressing. That is until I found Dr. Lisa Schneider. Well, to be honest my husband found her. I had 12 surgeries with a previous doctor. It was one thing after another. One complication and emergency surgery after another. Finally, my previous doctor said those dreaded words to me. “There’s nothing else I can do for you. You just have to be grateful that you’re alive and live with the way everything turned out.” I became a shell of myself hiding my body from my husband and the world. I didn’t feel complete let alone feel like the woman he married. He could tell me until he was blue in the face that my body and my scars didn’t matter to him, but when I looked at me, all I could see was what these past 12 surgeries did to my body. I told myself I have to try one more time with a new doctor and pray things turn out differently. That brings me to my meeting with Dr. Lisa Schneider. From the minute I called her office, to actually meeting everyone, I just felt a sense of peace and for the first time in a long time I felt hopeful. I didn’t want to get my hopes up, but I was praying this finally would be my time. Lucky number 13. Fast-forward three months after my surgery, I can tell you I finally have that piece of me back that I was missing. I can feel comfortable in my clothes. My husband saw me in a bathing suit top for the first time since this whole journey started almost 5 years ago. For me what Dr. Schneider did was make me feel whole again. Make me feel comfortable and confident, even though my body has been through a war. I could never say thank you enough to her, her amazing team and her staff for how gentle they’ve handled my case and held my hand every step of the way.
